It shall include the Financial Proposal that indicates the all-inclusive fixed total contract price, supported by a breakdown of costs, as per template provided.  If an Offeror is employed by an organisation/company/institution, and he/she expects his/her employer to charge a management fee in the process of releasing him/her to UNDP under Reimbursable Loan Agreement (RLA), the Offeror must indicate at this point, and ensure that all such costs are duly incorporated in the financial proposal submitted to UNDP. The consultant should also indicate any travel and related costs for meetings etc; 

2.  Curriculum Vitae with a list of relevant projects/ assignments

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is a global organization with more than 20,000 personnel working in approximately 170 offices globally. UNDP works in development and crisis settings with the aim to achieve the eradication of poverty, reduction of inequalities and exclusion, and sustained development results. 

 

Drawing on the diversity of UNDP’s client needs and partnerships, the Office of Human Resources (OHR) in the Bureau for Management Services is focused on the implementation of an ambitious and forward-looking three-year strategy, People for 2030, which will progressively

transform UNDP’s culture and enable its workforce capacity to deliver more and better results.

OHR’s Talent Development Unit (TDU), based in Copenhagen (Denmark) plays an important role in the talent development process including developing frameworks, programmes, tools and partnerships. The selected incumbent will hold a critical role in supporting programmes and initiatives aiming to support and enable rewarding career experiences at UNDP, where all personnel have an opportunity to grow professionally and personally, build new knowledge, skills and experiences, and be able to develop their careers. In addition to other initiatives, the Career Development Analyst will support the UNDP Global Mentoring programme, the Virtual Development Assignment Programme (VDAP) and the SPARK programme, a formal career development programme.

III. INTERNSHIP OFFICE BACKGROUND:

UNDP launched in March 2019 a Sustainable Finance Hub as a finance and innovation platform that draws on a critical mass of UNDP expertise, initiatives, and partnerships to support the mobilization and leveraging of resources for the SDGs and lead the implementation of the new private sector strategy and other initiatives. The Hub is an integral part of both the Bureau for Policy and Programme Support (BPPS) and the Bureau of External Relations and Advocacy (BERA), as part of the Global Policy Network (GPN).

The Istanbul International Center for Private Sector in Development (IICPSD) is one of the five global thematic centers of UNDP mandated to leverage the role of the private sector in development. The Center supports the GPN and BPPS by leading UNDP’s strategic offer to partner and work with the private sector. The Centre efforts is a leading center of excellence on engaging the private sector in development globally and will align and create synergies with the work of UNDP’s Country Offices, Regional Hubs and Finance Sector Unit, by focusing on the following objectives:

  1. Support the development of inclusive markets and inclusive business models that engage poor people into value chains as producers, employees, consumers and entrepreneurs, with the end goal of poverty alleviation;
  2. Creation of a demand driven set of tools and guidelines for engaging the private sector in development, in key markets that will be used as best practices guidelines;
  3. Programmatic private sector partnership for SDG implementation across UNDP, by designing, establishing and monitoring concrete global and national public private partnerships that creates results for development; and
  4. Global Centre of excellence for dialogue on private sector development by convening business and supporting actors. This could especially have a focus on South-South dialogue.

The Knowledge Management Intern will support the team in the development, implementation and maintenance of key service offers from the center to actors at the global and country levels.

Office/Unit/Project Description   

UNDP is the knowledge frontier organization for sustainable development in the UN Development System and serves as the integrator for collective action to realize the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). UNDP's policy work carried out at HQ, Regional and Country Office levels, forms a contiguous spectrum of deep local knowledge to cutting-edge global perspectives and advocacy. In this context, UNDP invests in the Global Policy Network (GPN), a network of field-based and global technical expertise across a wide range of knowledge domains and in support of the signature solutions and organizational capabilities envisioned in the Strategic Plan.

 

Within the GPN, the Bureau for Policy and Programme Support (BPPS) has the responsibility for developing all relevant policy and guidance to support the results of UNDP's Strategic Plan. BPPS's staff provides technical advice to Country Offices, advocates for UNDP corporate messages, represents UNDP at multi-stakeholder fora including public-private dialogues, government and civil society dialogues, and engages in UN inter-agency coordination in specific thematic areas. BPPS works closely with UNDP's Crisis Bureau (CB) to support emergency and crisis response. BPPS ensures that issues of risk are fully integrated into UNDP's development programmes.  BPPS assists UNDP and partners to achieve higher quality development results through an integrated approach that links results-based management and performance monitoring with more effective and new ways of working.  BPPS supports UNDP and partners to be more innovative, knowledge and data-driven including in its programme support efforts.

 

UNDP has achieved significant progress in making gender equality and women’s empowerment integral to its work on human development. It’s Gender Equality Strategy 2022-2025 builds on the lessons of the previous strategies and has established as the main goal to help governments to shift systems and power structures that generate gender inequalities and women’s disempowerment. It will work through its six signature solutions on poverty and inequality, governance, resilience, environment, energy and gender equality; and promote integrated approaches in each thematic area, stronger investments in data and analysis, the implementation of innovative solutions to transform social norms, and stronger partnerships with UN agencies and with civil society.  The Gender Team (BPPS) has the leading role in the implementation of the Gender Equality Strategy 2022-2025, including through the implementation of UNDP’s Gender Integrate Offer 2022-2025.

Institutional Arrangement

 

He/she will report to the Director of the Gender Team (Primary Supervisor) and work in close coordination with the Senior Gender Advisor of the Gender Team (Secondary Supervisor).

Office/Unit/Project Description 

The Bureau of External Relations and Advocacy (BERA) is responsible for positioning UNDP as the world’s leading global development network, promoting its global authority and thought leadership on sustainable development and the interconnected issues of poverty, inequality, and climate change. BERA leads and supports UNDP in building and nurturing strategic relationships and alliances essential to achieving its mission.

Within BERA, the Advocacy, Marketing and Communications Group (AMCG) leads and manages external communications through strategy, media, digital communications, marketing, branding and global storytelling. The Brand and Marketing Team (B&M) in the Communications Group manages UNDP’s brand and creates marketing products and resources to promote UNDP and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ensuring that messages resonate and gather support from audiences that span from government decision-makers to the general public. It manages the Marketing Services Hub which operates as UNDP’s in-house agency, managing a roster of external experts to produce marketing communications projects for teams and leverage the expertise of the Brand and Marketing team to provide high-quality communication services aligned with the UNDP brand, tone and visual guidelines.

The team also manages the online UNDP Shop https://shop.undp.org/, a fast-growing initiative that empowers people around the world to promote the SDGs. The UNDP Shop was launched in April 2017 as a pilot with the aim of creating a line of useful products with good design that can help UNDP improve its image and create awareness for the 2030 Agenda and the important work UNDP is doing to help countries reach the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It is a way for the wider public to connect and support UNDP’s work, as well as an excellent marketing opportunity. The UNDP Shop is hosted on Shopify and ships (mostly from the US) to all United Nations Member states. A new omnichannel strategy has been defined and launched since February 2022, to revitalize the UNDP Shop si

te in terms of marketing and outreach. The UNDP Shop E-commerce Operations Lead will be hired to lead on operations, logistics, procurement for the UNDP Shop, managing day-to-day supply chain tasks, curating relationships with vendors and corporate (B2B) clients, identifying opportunities and pain points and providing state-of-the-art operations solutions, to improve performance, increase efficiency in product and stock management, drive sales and bulk orders.

Institutional Arrangement  

Reporting to the Brand & Marketing Specialist of the B&M Team, the selected candidate will act as the UNDP Shop E-commerce Operations Lead , managing, improving and optimizing UNDP Shop’s supply chain including procurement, logistics & shipping, corporate (B2B) customer management.

The UNDP Shop E-commerce Operations Lead will oversee day-to-day operations and be involved in the marketing aspects related to UNDP’s e-commerce platform by proposing initiatives to drive efficiency and increase sales. This will include but not be limited to benchmarking direct competitors, identifying and proposing new and innovative products, exploring options to improve stock management, national/international shipping, Customer Relations Management (CRM). The UNDP Shop E-commerce Operations Lead will also oversee daily order fulfillment operations and be a champion in quality standards for order and return management, improving speed and accuracy and ensuring timely issue resolution.

The UNDP Shop E-commerce Operations Lead will report to the Brand & Marketing Specialist of the B&M Team.  The selected candidate will be required to liaise with external clients and vendors as well as with internal teams as needed. They will also work in close collaboration with the UNDP Shop Assistant, providing support and guidance as needed.
