Murder charges after Joanne Penney shot dead

Four people have been charged with murder after a 40-year-old woman was shot dead at a block of flats on Sunday.

Joanne Penney died after being shot at Green Park in Talbot Green, Rhondda Cynon Taf.

Police said they were considering several lines of inquiry, including that Ms Penney could have been a victim of mistaken identity.

South Wales Police said a fifth person was charged with assisting an offender. They are due to appear before Cardiff magistrates on Saturday.

Ms Penney’s family described her as a daughter, mother, sister and niece who was “deeply loved by all who knew her”.

The five charged, three men and two women, are:

  • Marcus Huntley, 20, from St Mellons, Cardiff, charged with murder
  • Melissa Quailey-Dashper, 39, from Leicester, charged with murder
  • Joshua Gordon, 27, from Oadby, Leicestershire, charged with murder
  • Tony Porter, 68, from Braunstone Town, Leicestershire, charged with murder and participating in the criminal activities of an organised crime group
  • Kistina Ginova , 21, from Oadby, Leicestershire, charged with assisting offender

A 32-year-old man was also arrested on Friday evening in the Suffolk area as part of the probe.

Det Chief Supt Ceri Hughes said: “Our team of detectives and specialist staff are continuing to piece together the circumstances behind Joanne’s tragic death.

“I would still urge anyone who has information, either about her death or what happened at the property in Llys Illtyd on Sunday evening, to come forward – the smallest piece of information could be of vital importance.”
